[Art journal] Jackie

Last weekend we celebrated a special day: Jackie have been with us since 1 year! I remember the day I found him as it was yesterday. Raising him, feeding him, getting to know all his different kind of bird songs, his first flight. Dreams I had about these birds, or even the pictures I took of them years before I found him. I never thought synchronicity could work this way.

Nowadays he doesn't sleep in his bird cage anymore... it's almost summer now and he enjoys flying around all day, sleeping in the tree (or the vine tree at out outdoor terrace), especially if it's warm. We don't have real summer weather here yet so there are days when he prefers to sleep indoors, when it's cold and rainy. But that doesn't happen much. He calls you when you get home from work, he joins you when you read in the garden and waits at the tree or roof until you come outdoors to give him a cookie (or 5).

I've made this art journal page to celebrate his first 'anniversary'. I've written the story down in Dutch (how I found him etc), tried to draw him, glued some texts I found online and a picture of jackdaws I took years before this happened. And yup; that's his feather. No worries, he donated it!

That's us. Isn't he adorable?
